Fight or Flight

When you are
too afraid,

you cannot
enjoy Life
fully.

Spirita gives us this little gem in “Sunshine Syllabus.”  I told my best friend this one and she could not grasp the idea (saying things like what does being afraid have anything to do with happiness?)  Awareness is the all encompassing factor.  Being afraid is not necessarily a bad thing, it saves people’s lives on a daily bases, but it is an emotion that will not allow happiness flourish.  “When you are too afraid….,” it is not the same as a healthy amount of fear.  Being too afraid indicated an over abundance of fear.  Just like there is a thing of too much chocolate cake in my belly, I can have too much fear.  When I eat too much cake I get a sore tummy and I am not a happy camper.  When I have too much fear I either fight or flight and either way I am not a happy person.  I do not want to fight or run, I want to be happy.  Fear is a perceived negative emotion that is not conducive to a positive emotion like happiness.
These two emotions are really on different sides of the fence.  When one lives their life in a constant state of fear and being afraid people act in direct response to that emotion.  If the fear is real, by all means, be afraid, I am not talking about that kind of fear.  Sometimes the fear is imagined or a situation does not warrant the actions taken that fear and being afraid demands, then why continue to live that way.  I want to enjoy my life.  Fear can prevents us from everyday activities like participating in activities that are fun, or interacting with people we might not know.  But in order to know what we as individuals like, we have to try the things we don’t.  That can cause people anxiety and feelings of being afraid, but then how can one truly know if you let that feeling of “too afraid” prevent you.  Who knows, maybe the activity will be fun and you will find a new hobby or friend?
As you go about your day, reflect on these statements to help you interpret this Spirita passage;  You gotta know the low to experience the high.  To enjoy life fully need feelings of fear but too much of anything cannot be pleasant.

Guidance Explored

Guidance

The Spirit

of Awareness

will guide Soul

to Inspiration and Creativity,

which is how Writers Express.

This little gem comes from Writer's Cramp by Spirita.  I obviously am writing about this one because of the blog theme "awareness," but I am not a "writer."  Yes, I am technically writing these words now, but that is as far as I can take it.  I, like most people, keep a journal but I do not write in it as much as I should.  However, writing always gives me a sense of accomplishment.  And as I write this blog post, I am acutely aware of this accomplishment.  But this passage does not need to be directed solely to writers.  I have been talking for months about awareness and how to become more aware of self, feelings, emotions and even actions. I like this one because if one becomes aware, then creativity and inspirations just kind of follow suite.  Opportunity for this creativity and inspiration just needs to be noticed.  I challenge you to just sit and write.  Become aware of your surroundings at first, then slowly aware of how you feel, and then poof, the inspiration will come.... Creativity is there, it just takes us being aware that it will be easy to come by.  Creativity and inspiration then feels like blessings ready for us to grab a hold and run with.

Note on the side, whenever I write in my journal, it always ends up with some doodle I never intended on creating.  As a hobby artist, some times these doodles are magnificent.  Creativity is there, you just have to be aware that it is there.  Writing can help the Awareness!!!!!!!

Get Creative

Being creative

is as fundamental

to happiness

as air

is to

breathing.

Are you aware that creativity is so fundamental to happiness?  In this passage from Writer's Cramp by Spirita, a statement is presented to us and gives us an opportunity to be happy.  Happiness is sought out by humans every day and in order to be happy, Spirita suggests creativity is a necessity  to accomplish it (like air is necessary to breath.)  I want to reiterate that creativity comes in many different forms. Some people have a journal (creative writing), others have children (creative play), and others might get creative for breakfast (creative cooking.)  Whatever it is that you do...... get creative and be happy.

Values are a Choice

Values we

establish and display

define

our

Divinity.

This passage comes from Blossoms n’ Bubbles, a book written by Spirita.  I believe this allow us to look into self awareness by knowing that these values we have “established and display” are 100 percent our choice.  No one can force us to have a certain value.  While I understand our parents and other mentors in our life can have influence, at the end of the day, it is just that, and influence.  At some point in our adult life, we have to realize that we choose who we are.  Those choice points you in the direction you want to go.  Our Divinity (or even how close we want to become close to divinity) is defined by our actions, thoughts, and choices.  Were you aware that “Values” were a choice?

Creativity is Simple

“This
is an invitation
to
express Creativity.”
This passage comes from the Spirita book Snippettes of Spirita (sic) and I think really speaks to the awareness that we can all find in ourselves.  Now many of us will read this passage and dismiss it because we cannot see our creative potential.  But I want you to read this passage again…. Slowly, deliberately, and open mindedly.
What is creativity in its simplest form?  A quick Google.com search gives you an outlook implying it is simply the act of creating something new and attaching value to it.  Hint, three times a day humans make meals for themselves.  Making dinner is a creative outlet.  Before dinner there were just ingredients, while making it, we are on a mission to create a delicious meal, and after we enjoy it.  Dinner will be an outlet to “Creativity,” even if you are not good at it.  Another example is children; by creating fun games to play with your own kids, nieces, nephews, or cousins you can express your own creativity and help a child display their creativity.  There are a million other small things one can participate in every day that is an “invitation to express your creativity.”
Look around; be aware of the opportunities presented to you.  Creativity is not just about making art or poetry; it is so much more than that.  A smile is valuable and if I get that from someone because I dance inside the mall at random, then my invitation for creativity has been met.

Anger To Love

Frustrations

beget

anger.

Understanding

exudes

Love.
Thimbles of Spirit contains the previous excerpt and after reading Jackie’s posting from November 1, 2011, and adds to the conversation.  She is right, we are all on a journey to finding awareness and it is tough.  Often, while on this metaphorical road to awareness we get weak and weary, and can be frustrating.  Frustration is not an easy feeling once encountered and Spirita puts it nicely by saying it is a cause of anger.  Anger does not allow us to become aware of anything.  Anger, at least mine, focuses on the anger or accompanying negative energy.  As we are on a journey through life, anger would be considered the wrong way sign hanging.  This feeling is one that does not helps anybody grow.  If at this moment you are anger about something, I challenge you to let it go, even if it is for a moment.

On the flip side, I also challenge you to exercise the ability to be understanding.  On this road trip analogy of life, this is the part of the journey of feeling the wind in your hair, music playing the best songs, and has amazing scenery.  Understanding takes the edge off someone else’s attitude and love is inevitable.  Love is a great feeling that is uplifting and good for your soul.  Jackie is right, we are not alone on this road trip called life.  And if one feels “lonely”  don’t be angry but let understanding the journey lead you to a lovely way of life.
Until Next Time,

A Pair of Pliers

26th Movement
Pliers
Avoid being a pair of pliers
to be used
and
tossed aside
when
you are
no longer
useful.
"Symphonetic Musings", a great book. This selection jumped out at me today. I am having one of those transition times, not only in my day-to-day activities but also in my Awareness of Self. Sounds weird right and I don't know which came first. Sort of a chicken and an egg. But regardless the egg is hatching and I must adjust my Awareness and regain Balance.

Oh so important this Balance fostered by Awareness. I am AWARE things are changing, I am AWARE this means something and most importantly I am AWARE that my Wellness relies on my Balance.

It's so strange how all those thing just intertwine together, so seamless and simplistic in a way and yet so complicated.

I don't know how or when I will feel my Balance return but I suspect it will rely heavily on me being Aware of every moment and Choice I encounter. I probably need a good Spirita Solitary moment to figure things out. Not that there's a ton to figure, but it's nice to put everything in perspective.

So, compadre, what does this mean to you? Is the above just some girl spilling her guts on the internet and leaving you with 5 minutes of confusion?

Hardly. This is what I would like to convey:

I share this in hopes that if you ever feel this way, if you ever encounter a similar situation you will know you are not alone. I know, trite but it's true. It's nice to know we are not alone in our Awareness journey and perhaps someone has already traveled this road, maybe they even know where all the gas stations are.

So travel on and remember the Shell Station is about a half a mile down, you can rest there.
